Daniel and I have made a point to catch every Olympic match we can find on TV. This is the first time that I've actually been able to watch it with any intelligence. Daniel taught me all the rules when we started watching and I made the astonishing discovery that it's actually a far more enjoyable sport to watch when you know the rules. :-P (Fancy that...)
To be honest, when we initially planned on taking a curling lesson, I only expected a scant few would turn out for such an event...however, there was a veritable mob waiting outside by the time they were ready to open the rink. I'd guess maybeeee....slightly south of 200 people? Of course, that meant we only got to learn on a half-rink for a limited amount of time (evidently, the curling league didn't foresee such a turnout either...they had planned at least twice as much time for instruction as each student ultimately received), but it was a lot of fun. And for $10, it was a great introduction to the sport.
This is me, curling my first rock. (I did it all wrong. But I reveled anyway. Go me.)
It doesn't look like we'll be able to join the instructional league that's starting their spring season in just a couple weeks...but we're filing this experience under "Things We'd Like To Try More Of Later".

I thought that, as long as I'm sharing videos, I may as well share this video as well...
The story behind this one:
Back when "Laura-my-future-sister-in-law" was just "Laura-my-awesome-friend", she was planning a wedding herself. And when she wanted to ask her girls to be bridesmaids, she did it in an extremely cool fashion. One morning, I woke up to find a mailbox on my doorstep, hand-painted in orange and blue--Laura's wedding colors. Inside there was a strip of pictures that looked like they were taken in an old-fashioned photo booth, each one of Laura and Don holding signs that spelled out "Will you be my bridesmaid?" In addition to the message, there was a picture of Laura and me, a letter with a more detailed version of the aforementioned proposal, and a bridesmaid's handbook.
I thought it was the sweetest thing ever. I loved it and I'll keep that mailbox and its contents forever.
I wanted to find a special way to ask my dearest friends to be my bridesmaids too. And so I got to thinking...I don't have a ton of resources right now...but I know how to write a song. So that's what I did. When the video was ready to upload, I posted it on YouTube and I sent out an e-mail to everyone on my list that included a clickable photo of Daniel and me, framed in our wedding colors...

The link in the photo took them to the video. :-) I was quite proud of my little idea.
And thus, it is shared. Feel free to dote on my brilliance in the "comments" field provided at the end of this post...
